September 26, 2016

Hola friends and fam! Sorry for being a slacker last week and not writing you all. Oops. But here I am, trying to be better and better each day. :)

This week was excelente!

Monday: We had Family Home Evening with a member, the elders, and their investigators (because ours didn't show up :() but it was still great because my companion and I taught the lesson about baptism and one of the investigators accepted a baptismal date and within 2 weeks she'll be baptized! Wohoo!

Tuesday: We went to visit one of our investigators named Alberto and he ROCKS. Let me tell you about him. We contacted him on his 86th birthday when he was walking back from the store with some heavy bags and we helped him carry them to his house and taught him in the moment. He hadn't even realized that that day was his birthday then went on and on telling us about how he doesn't like to celebrate his birthdays and didn't think he would live past 50 haha. But anyway, after this first visit we invited him to church and he told us he would go but didn't show up. We weren't surprised (where was our faith??) and decided to visit him again to see if he still wanted to learn. The next visit, he told us again that he was gonna go to church but we didn't believe him again. Oops. Imagine our surprise when Sunday morning ALBERTO SHOWS UP AT CHURCH! It was such a blessing that this man is willing to act and keep learning despite the limitations he experiences for his age and the opposition from his family. He went again yesterday and will be baptized on October 22nd. Wohoo! But anyway on Tuesday we taught him about the commandment to keep the Sabbath day holy and he got really excited and committed to live it faithfully from this day forward.

Wednesday: We found some awesome new investigators and were able to visit other investigators who we hadn't been able to find in a while! A pretty normal day but always finding miracles. :)

Thursday: We visited Alberto again! This time a member who got back from her mission like a year ago accompanied us to visit him and she's HILARIOUS and got him way excited for his baptism. Go out with the missionaries and motivate their investigators to make good decisions!

Friday: We found another new investigator who has listened to missionaries before and her son and daughter-in-law are members and she said she's finally ready to act and get baptized! More news to come on Hna. Monguia.

Saturday: WOMEN'S SESSION OF GENERAL CONFERENCE. We arrived soaking wet to the chapel where we were going to watch conference because it's been raining like CRAZY these days, but it was all worth it because the talks rocked! I looooooooved President Uchtdorf's talk! I invite you alllllll, men and women alike :), to go read it on lds.org this week!

Sunday: Alberto came to church! And it rained like crazy again but it was a beautiful Sabbath day! Also, my comp and I gave talks. She spoke about faith and I spoke about keeping our covenants. How can you strengthen your faith and keep your covenants better this week? Oh and our new district leader decided we should all match on Sundays (because 6 of the 8 missionaries are all in the same ward) so last week they all wore black ties and we wore black shirts and this week they wore navy blue ties and we wore navy blue skirts. Bomb diggity.

Haha I hope you all have a fab week and prepare for general conference by thinking of a
question you want an answer to. I promise you that in something the speakers say this weekend, you will find the answer you're looking for. I love you all lots and lots and lots and hope you have a great week!

Con mucho amor,
Hermana Bird

P.S. My companion is super cute and funny and made me a special "pizza" last week,
